Hello, and welcome to my page. I’m Samira and here’s a little bit about me.

I’m an educator and an aspiring changemaker.

I've worked as a teacher in multiple settings and geographies for six years, and am currently teaching students from underserved communities as part of the Teach for India fellow in Bangalore, India. I teach English and Social Sciences to the brightest, warmest and most enthusiastic 6th and 7th graders at St Sara’s English School.

While I enjoy teaching both subjects, in this stint I’ve also had a chance to explore creating learning opportunities beyond academics to help children explore new areas of interest while also building creativity, critical thinking, confidence, collaboration and leadership. My class and I are proud to share our student-led class magazines, podcast episodes and passion projects here.

What draws me to teaching is the chance to build lasting relationships with my students and also the fact that teaching challenges you creatively every single day! From designing lesson plans that will best help students learn, to responding to unique challenges that spontaneously arise in the classroom, there’s never a dull moment! You can find some of my lesson plans that leverage these two aspects to create strong student engagement and learning outcomes here.

Outside of work, my hobbies are also centred around my interest in people. I love reading dramas, psychological and historical fiction. And of course romances! I also make pencil sketches of women at leisure. Lastly, spending time with my people fills my cup like nothing else.
